XBMC 10 on Acer Aspire Revo R3600

This is a collection of existing solutions I found to problems I encountered while attempting to install XBMC 10 onto a Acer Aspire Revo R3600. The installation was done from a Live USB generated from the XBMC Live CD, using UNetbootin.

Help! The installer complains about about “No CD-ROM found”, but I’m using a Live USB!

Mount the CD-ROM from your USB stick, when booting from the Live USB.. Thanks IPhase.

Help! X/XBMC is not booting on boot! Both however start just fine manually!

Add parameters to your GRUB config file. Thanks stretch.

Help! How do I connect my wireless using WPA2-PSK (AES) and get it to start on boot?!

Use wpa_supplicant and edit your network interfaces file. The Acer Aspire Revo R3600 appears to use an Atheros chipset, not Broadcom, but all the same principles apply. Thanks eddyp.

Help! Audio doesn’t work over HDMI

Update your system 🙂

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
